Language Testing in Skilled Worker Applications for Canadian Permanent Residence

Language Testing for Skilled Worker Applications in Canada

The International English Language Test System (IELTS) and the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program  (CELPIP) are the only tests recognized by the Canadian government to determine the level of English that  Skilled Worker applicants from foreign countries possess. If your mother tongue is not English you will be asked to pass  the IELTS or CELPIP test.

If you believe that you are highly proficient in all four abilities (reading / writing / speaking / listening) of the English language, I would like to advise you not take these tests lightly. They are very difficult tests and, although you may feel that you are fluent in the English language, you really should take the necessary steps to prepare yourself for these tests before sitting for them.

Be prepared for your language testing for skilled worker applications

I have been working in the field of immigration many years, and most of those years I was an employee of the Canadian Embassy Immigration Section and many applications have been refused over the years due to low IELTS or CELPIP scores. Under the current Skilled Worker Immigration category requirements, the majority of applications refused are due to poor language test results.

Take my advice and be prepared in order for your application for  Canadian permanent residence to be successful!
