Michael Niren on CTV News about US Citizens applying for Canadian work visas: “Reverse Brain Drain”

Due to the downturn in the US economy, Canadians are experiencing a “reverse brain drain”. Americans are seeking employment in Canada and are applying for Canadian work permits in record numbers. I was interviewed by Jennifer Ward on CTV this month about my experiences at my office with Americans applying for Canadian work visas.

I can certainly attest that I have noticed an increase in numbers. Americans are looking to Canada for job stability in Canada and with the increase in the Canadian dollar, the cost of living while not cheap in Canada, makes economic sense for many Americans. We will have to see how this all plays out during the recovery period. Perhaps levels will taper off. We nevertheless still service many Canadians seeking work in the US and that, I can guarantee, will not cease.
